Nephrology at the Mater

Dr Christina Lai

Dr. Christina Lai is an expert Nephrologist and General Physician with a focus on acute kidney injury, glomerulonephritis, hypertension, cardiorenal, chronic kidney disease, including dialysis and kidney transplantation and perioperative medicine. 

​

She is a Staff Specialist at Concord Repatriation General Hospital and is the Director of Trainees in Unaccredited Positions, where she is committed to the education and development of the next generation of medical professionals. 

​

Upon graduating from the University of New South Wales, Dr Lai was awarded her Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of Physicians (FRACP) completing her renal specialist training at St Vincent's, Liverpool, Concord and Royal Prince Alfred Hospitals. 

 

Dr. Lai holds a PhD on early immunological and clinical events in kidney transplantation.

 

She received the Early Career Researcher Award from the Transplantation Society of Australia and New Zealand in 2019.

 

Dr. Lai is a lecturer at the University of Sydney, leading the Leadership Program in the Master of Medicine Capstone Module, and is passionate about fostering critical leadership skills amongst medical trainees.

 

Fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin and English, Dr. Lai has also shared her expertise through a series of informative talks on SBS Cantonese Radio, discussing common kidney-related issues, to educate and raise awareness within the community. ​
